Second U.S. Indigenous Data Sovereignty Summit Encourages Scholars, Leaders, and Data Warriors to ‘Come Home’

The 2026 U.S. Indigenous Data Sovereignty & Governance Summit brought together scholars, Tribal leaders, students, and data practitioners to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and advance Indigenous-led approaches to data governance.

Centered on the theme of “Coming Home,” this article highlights the growth of the Indigenous Data Sovereignty movement, the importance of intergenerational learning, and the collective responsibility of building data futures grounded in Indigenous values, governance, and self-determination.
